BASIC ICD-10 CODING TRAINING
Coding Essentials: Mastering ICD-10 for Precision in Healthcare.

This 8-hour full day course will cover the basics of ICD10-CM coding. In this Basics of ICD-10-CM Coding for long-term care, we will present the learner with an introduction to the ICD-10-CM coding system, an overview of the ICD-10-CM coding manual as well as a review of the general coding conventions, and guidelines to follow when assigning ICD-10-CM codes. The content in this course is applicable to MDS, Billing, and other staff responsible for assigning ICD-10-CM codes in the SNF/NF setting. It is not an advanced course but will provide you with the basics of diagnosis coding along with practice exercises, section tests and a final exam. The answers to all coding exercises and section tests will be from the most current edition of the ICD-10-CM Coding Manual. At the end of the course, students will: understand the structure of an ICD-10-CM code; navigate the layout of the ICD-10-CM coding manual; and identify and apply the basic steps required code diagnoses and procedures using the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding manuals
The course is designed with lectures/discussions, Q&A, practice tests/exercises, and a final examination. Upon completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to take the final exam. When you’ve completed the final exam, you will be able to receive a certificate of completion.
